This continuing education accredited class through SUNY Cobleskill is occurring at the site of the Natural Fiber Producers Cooperative dehairing machine. A great opportunity to see the only machine of this type in the United States. It removes the heavy, coarse fibers from many different types of natural fleece. For example: yak, buffalo, cashmere, alpaca, llama and angora goat to name a few.
The Basic Class enables the student to understand fiber and be able to go home and prepare their fleeces for production. The better the preparation, the better the final products.
The Advanced Class builds upon the information of the Basic Class and prepares the student to help other fiber producers get their harvest into production. There also is an option for a 2 year apprenticeship after successful completion of this course.
Registration for these classes is via SUNY/Cobleskill. Call 518-255-5537 and speak to Deb Pernat. Or via the sortgradeclass.com website.
